The Role

As a Senior Bid Writer, you will take ownership of the end-to-end bid writing process, creating persuasive, compliant, and high-scoring proposals that support business growth.

Working closely with internal teams, subject matter experts, and senior stakeholders, you will develop clear, engaging, and tailored bid responses that align with client requirements, evaluation criteria, and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities will include:

Lead the bid writing process from opportunity identification through to submission.

Produce high-quality, persuasive tender responses that maximise scoring potential.

Develop tailored content aligned with client requirements, specifications, and procurement criteria.

Work collaboratively with technical teams, project managers, commercial teams, and subject matter experts to gather key information.

Support the development of bid strategies, win themes, differentiators, and client-focused messaging.

Translate complex construction and technical information into clear, compelling written content.

Review and refine bid submissions to ensure accuracy, consistency, compliance, and quality.

Manage multiple bids simultaneously while working to strict deadlines.

Support the creation of visually engaging bid documents alongside graphic design teams.

Research industry trends, client priorities, and best practice approaches to strengthen submissions.

Maintain and improve bid libraries, templates, processes, and knowledge-sharing resources.

Mentor and support junior bid team members to improve overall bid quality.

Ensure all submissions follow internal governance and quality standards.

About You

To be successful in this Senior Bid Writer role, you will have:

Proven experience working as a Bid Writer, Senior Bid Writer, Proposal Writer, or Tender Specialist.

Experience within a construction, engineering, infrastructure, or built environment organisation.

Strong knowledge of bid processes, tendering, frameworks, and compliance requirements.

Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail.

The ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging, and client-focused responses.

Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Experience working with public and private sector tenders.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and bid management tools.

Desirable Experience

Degree qualified in English, Journalism, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

APMP qualification.

Formal bid writing training such as Shipley or similar.

Knowledge of construction industry standards and procurement practices.
