An opportunity for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to take greater ownership of client work within a modern, technology-focused accountancy practice.

Fletcher George is recruiting a Senior Bookkeeper to join an established accountancy practice in Leatherhead, Surrey.

This position offers considerably more variety than a traditional bookkeeping role. You will prepare management accounts, review bookkeeping and VAT returns, and work directly with clients to improve their accounting processes and make the most of cloud-based technology.

The Role

As Senior Bookkeeper, you will support a portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for accurate financial records, management reporting and cloud accounting support.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing management accounts for SME clients
• Reviewing bookkeeping records and VAT returns
• Onboarding new clients and supporting their transition to cloud accounting systems
• Helping clients use Xero, Dext and other accounting technology effectively
• Providing practical bookkeeping and accounting support to clients
• Working closely with Audit and Outsourcing colleagues
• Supporting additional client assignments and projects as the practice develops

About You

We are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper or Senior Bookkeeper with:

• Previous bookkeeping experience gained within a UK accountancy practice
• Confidence preparing management accounts and reviewing bookkeeping and VAT returns
• Good working knowledge of cloud accounting software, ideally Xero and Dext
• Experience communicating directly with clients and resolving accounting queries
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• A proactive approach and an interest in improving accounting processes through technology

Location

The role is based in Leatherhead, Surrey, with hybrid working arrangements typically involving approximately three days in the office.
