Senior Contract Surveyor (Steel/Structures)

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Contract Surveyor to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of steel and structural packages on a major development. This role is suited for a commercially astute professional with a strong background in structural works, procurement, and cost management. If you have a deep understanding of steel structures and thrive on delivering accurate financial management and effective contract administration, this is an excellent opportunity to take the lead on a major construction project.

Client Overview Our client is a recognised construction organisation, noted for delivering complex, large-scale structural engineering projects with a focus on quality and precision.
Responsibilities
  • Lead all commercial management for steel and structural packages
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage subcontract agreements and procurement processes
  • Monitor and report on project costs, cash flow, and financial performance
  • Identify commercial risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on objectives
  • Manage valuations, variations, and final account settlements in line with contract obligations
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, contract conditions and best practices
Must-have Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Quantity/Contract Surveyor in steel or structural works
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to manage complex packages within agreed budgets and timescales
  • Proficiency in cost management software and standard MS applications
