We are currently seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to provide technical engineering support to a major energy asset in Barrow-in-Furness.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Control Systems / Instrumentation & Control Engineer looking for a long-term contract within a technically challenging and safety-critical environment.
🔹 WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You will provide control systems engineering support to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Morecambe Hub control systems and associated equipment.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting and optimising preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
• Troubleshooting equipment issues and leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations
• Developing and implementing corrective actions and reliability improvements
• Providing technical support for asset integrity, inspection, testing and condition monitoring
• Reviewing and approving control systems work scopes, job packs and method statements
• Providing engineering input into CAPEX projects, modifications, design reviews and commissioning
• Supporting contractors and vendors to ensure quality, safety and technical compliance
• Supporting turnaround, commissioning and start-up activities
• Participating in HAZOP, HAZID and LOPA studies and implementing required safeguards
• Supporting Management of Change (MOC) processes and assessing operational/design impacts
• Ensuring compliance with relevant API, ASME, ISO, DNV and company standards
• Maintaining technical documentation including drawings, datasheets, calculations and procedures
• Acting as a Lead Investigator using Kelvin TOP-SET investigation techniques
• Working closely with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering and Asset Integrity teams
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer with a strong background in onshore and/or offshore oil & gas operations, maintenance and asset integrity.
You should have:
• Strong knowledge of control systems within oil & gas production facilities
• Experience with maintenance strategies and reliability engineering
• Understanding of safety-critical systems and permit-to-work environments
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
• Experience supporting projects, modifications and commissioning
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience leading investigations using Kelvin TOP-SET would be highly advantageous
🎓 QUALIFICATIONS
Ideally, you will have:
• Degree-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related discipline
• MEng desirable
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status desirable
