Senior Controls Engineer – Machine Vision & Automation

North Lincolnshire / East Yorkshire area | Hybrid Working

Bespoke automation. Machine vision. Motion control. Cradle-to-grave project ownership.

If that's the type of engineering that motivates you, I'd like to tell you about a Senior Controls Engineering opportunity with an established automation business in the Humber region.

I'm recruiting for a growing engineering business that designs and builds bespoke automation and machine vision systems for manufacturers operating in highly regulated industries.

Rather than producing standard machines, this business develops tailored inspection and automation solutions that combine vision systems, product handling, control systems and validation to solve complex manufacturing challenges. Their projects span everything from primary packaging and track & trace through to bespoke inspection systems and automated handling equipment.

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you'll play a key role throughout the full project lifecycle, working closely with mechanical, electrical and vision engineers to develop solutions from concept through to customer acceptance.

The role will include:

  • PLC and HMI software development
  • Motion control and machine automation
  • Integration of vision inspection systems
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • Site commissioning and customer handover
  • Technical problem solving and software optimisation
  • Working directly with customers throughout project delivery
  • Supporting innovation on bespoke automation projects

We're keen to speak with engineers who have experience in:

  • Special Purpose Machinery
  • Systems Integration
  • Machine Vision
  • Industrial Automation
  • Packaging Machinery
  • Robotics
  • PLC-based control systems

You'll enjoy taking ownership of projects, solving technically challenging problems and working closely with customers to deliver high-quality automation solutions.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • Bespoke engineering rather than repetitive machine modifications
  • Hybrid working
  • Genuine cradle-to-grave project ownership
  • Exposure to machine vision, automation and advanced inspection technologies
  • A collaborative engineering culture where ideas are encouraged
  • Ongoing investment in technical and professional development, with engineers supported through specialist training and industry learning opportunities.
