We are currently working with a leading Tier 1 main contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Design Manager for a major £400m development in Central London.

The project is currently at pre-construction stage, with the successful candidate playing a key role in the design process and the upcoming Building Safety Act Gateway 2 submission.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major long-term London development at an early stage and have significant involvement throughout pre-construction and into delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and coordinating the design process during pre-construction.
• Supporting and managing the Building Safety Act / Gateway 2 submission.
• Managing architects, consultants and specialist designers to ensure information is coordinated, compliant and buildable.
• Managing design programmes, technical information, design risk and consultant deliverables.
• Working closely with the Project Director, commercial, pre-construction and procurement teams.
• Reviewing designs for buildability, efficiency and compliance with Building Regulations.
• Managing design through relevant RIBA stages and supporting the transition from pre-construction into delivery.
• Liaising with clients, consultants, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a Senior Design Manager / experienced Design Manager with a Tier 1 or established main contractor.
• Strong pre-construction design management experience.
• Experience or a strong working knowledge of the Building Safety Act and Gateway 2 process.
• Experience delivering large-scale residential, student accommodation, high-rise, hotel or mixed-use projects.
• Excellent understanding of RIBA stages, Building Regulations and Design & Build procurement.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams on technically complex projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
