Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.

The Role
We are now expecting several projects to have exciting opportunities to recruit Senior Electrical Engineers to join the team in either Birchwood or Cumbria.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ROLES ARE EXPECTED TO START LATER THIS YEAR/ EARLY PART OF 2027.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer your responsibilities will include:
- Production and review of deliverables throughout all phases of the project lifecycle including concept, detailed design, procurement, manufacture, construction, commissioning and handover. Typical deliverables include specification of electrical systems including power distribution, standby and backup power systems, lighting, earthing and bonding, cable management systems and associated plant equipment as well as electrical calculations such cable sizing, fault level studies, protection coordination and equipment selection.
- Produce and review high-quality electrical engineering documentation to programme deadlines and in accordance with applicable standards, regulations and client engineering requirements.
- Manage the electrical design configuration baseline in response to evolving project requirements and design information from internal and external stakeholders.
- Review and respond to Technical Queries, concessions and design changes, providing robust technical justification and governance.
- Coordinate electrical engineering activities with other disciplines through Building Information Modelling (BIM) and multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and technical leadership to junior engineers, graduates and early career professionals to support capability development within the team.
- Ensure electrical design solutions remain aligned with nuclear and conventional safety case requirements, design substantiation and project functional requirements, ensuring suitable validation and verification arrangements are implemented.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will have:
- BEng/MEng degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience supported by an HNC/HND qualification.
- Professionally registered as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng), or able to demonstrate progress towards registration.
- Experience in a senior electrical engineering role within a highly regulated industry such as Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Rail or other comparable sectors.
- Demonstrable understanding of relevant electrical engineering standards, regulations and industry best practice including BS 7671, IEC standards and electrical safety legislation. Experience of electrical software tools such as ETAP, Amtech/Trimble and design tools such as AutoCAD
- Evidence of technical excellence and successful delivery of complex engineering projects.
