📍 Hatfield, Hertfordshire | Permanent | Monday-Friday - with on call 1-6, would need to be within 1 hour of site.

Are you a fully qualified Electrical Engineer looking for a role that combines reactive maintenance, engineering coordination, and project delivery within a complex critical environment?

We are seeking a Senior Estates Engineer to join an established facilities team supporting a large, technically advanced site in Hertfordshire.

This is not a role focused on routine PPMs. You'll be responsible for managing reactive maintenance, coordinating engineering activities, leading fault-finding investigations, and delivering improvement projects across the site. A team of engineers carries out the majority of planned preventative maintenance, although there may be occasional requirements to support PPM activities when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate reactive maintenance across a critical site.
• Lead technical fault-finding and problem resolution.
• Coordinate engineers, contractors, and specialist service providers.
• Oversee electrical systems, HVAC, utilities, and building services infrastructure.
• Manage maintenance activities through CMMS/SAP systems.
• Deliver minor works, upgrades, and engineering improvement projects.
• Review plant performance and identify opportunities for optimisation and energy savings.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and asset condition assessments.
• Manage permits-to-work and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
• Provide technical support and performance reporting to management.

Essential Requirements

• Fully qualified Electrical Engineer.
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing (or equivalent 2394/2395).
• Strong Electrical Building Services background.
• Experience working in critical environments such as laboratories, life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, data centres, or similar.
• Previous experience supervising engineers or coordinating maintenance activities.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building services infrastructure.
• Experience using CMMS or SAP maintenance systems.
• Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Desirable

• HV/LV Authorised Person.
• Pressure Systems experience.
• Experience within highly regulated environments.
• Project management or minor works delivery experience.
