We are currently supporting a Local Authority in Kent with the appointment of an experienced Senior Environmental Protection Officer on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional looking to take ownership of a varied caseload while benefiting from a flexible working arrangement. The successful candidate will be required to attend the office/site one Thursday every two weeks, with the remainder of the work completed remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Air Quality assessments and monitoring
• Reviewing and responding to Planning Applications
• Licensing consultations and compliance matters
• Contaminated Land investigations and assessments
• Environmental Permitting and regulatory functions
• Providing specialist environmental advice to internal and external stakeholders
• Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation and local authority policies

Essential Requirements

• Degree qualification in Environmental Health or a relevant Scientific Discipline
• Previous experience working within a Local Authority Environmental Protection team
• Strong knowledge across Environmental Protection functions including:
  • Air Quality
  • Planning Consultations
  • Licensing
  • Contaminated Land
  • Environmental Permitting
• Ability to manage a diverse workload independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
