Senior Estimator

We are working with an established and growing civil engineering and rail contractor based in Welwyn Garden City, delivering a range of infrastructure, civil engineering and rail projects across the UK.

Due to continued growth and an expanding pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a strong civil engineering or rail background who is looking to take ownership of significant tenders and play a key role in securing future projects.

The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing competitive and commercially robust estimates and tenders across a range of civil engineering and rail projects.

You will work closely with the pre-construction, commercial, engineering and operational teams to develop accurate costs, identify risks and opportunities, and produce high-quality tender submissions.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission.
• Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil engineering and rail projects.
• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
• Producing detailed Bills of Quantities, take-offs and pricing schedules.
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Developing project programmes and understanding associated cost implications.
• Identifying commercial, technical and delivery risks and opportunities.
• Working with the commercial and operational teams to develop appropriate methodologies and build-ups.
• Attending tender adjudications and presenting estimates to senior management.
• Supporting negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Maintaining accurate estimating records and contributing to the continual improvement of estimating processes.
• Mentoring and supporting junior members of the estimating team where appropriate.

Salary upto £95,000 + pkg and can offer some flexible working.
