My client is seeking an experienced Senior Marine Systems Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Fareham. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled marine professional to play a key role in the specification, integration and detailed design of onboard vessel systems across a diverse range of marine projects.

Working closely with engineers, production teams, suppliers and customers, you will be responsible for delivering robust, compliant and production-ready system designs, while supporting projects from concept through to build and commissioning.

The Role As a Senior Marine Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, integration and documentation of a wide range of vessel systems, ensuring they meet operational requirements, regulatory standards and production needs.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Specification and integration of primary mechanical and auxiliary marine systems, including:
    • Propulsion systems
    • Bilge systems
    • Fire suppression systems
    • Hydraulic systems
    • HVAC systems
  • Development of cable and pipe routing layouts within Siemens NX master general arrangement models
  • Creation and management of primary equipment lists
  • Production of P&IDs and associated engineering calculations in accordance with relevant classification society rules and engineering principles
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of MRP Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies and classification societies to ensure compliance
  • Working closely with production teams and shipyard personnel to support design updates, modifications and as-built changes
  • Collaborating with suppliers, subcontractors and customers throughout project delivery
About You The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of marine systems and have experience delivering detailed engineering solutions within a marine or boat building environment.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in marine systems design and integration across a broad range of vessel systems
  • Experience creating production-ready system designs using Siemens NX
  • Strong understanding of marine engineering standards and regulations
  • Experience liaising with classification societies and regulatory bodies
  • Ability to work closely with production teams to manage design updates and engineering changes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently using initiative
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Advanced 3D CAD modelling experience in Siemens NX
  • Electrical systems design knowledge
  • Experience with Teamcenter PDM
  • Understanding of configuration management and change control processes
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
