AMF is seeking an accomplished and highly skilled Senior Vehicle Technician to serve as a technical lead within our specialist Mercedes-Benz team. This role is designed for an expert technician with extensive experience who is capable of handling complex mechanical diagnostics, advanced electrical troubleshooting, and intricate repair work with minimal supervision.
As a Senior Technician at an independent Mercedes specialist, you will be a key figure in upholding our high standards. You will work on everything from delicate restoration projects on 1960s classics to performance tuning and diagnostics on the latest Mercedes-Benz models. We are looking for a mentor and a problem-solver who takes immense pride in delivering excellence for our loyal clientele.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Diagnostics: Lead complex fault-finding operations, including intricate electrical system analysis, ECU programming, and software configuration using Xentry/Star Diagnosis.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as a point of escalation for technical queries, assisting other team members and ensuring all repairs meet our high standards.
- Complex Repairs: Perform major mechanical overhauls, including engine and transmission work, advanced suspension geometry, and sophisticated repairs.
- Quality Control: Oversee final inspections and road tests to ensure every vehicle leaves the workshop in showroom condition.
- Communication: Act as a technical liaison for the office team, providing clear, professional explanations for customers regarding complex repair requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of experience in the automotive industry Experience working on Mercedes-Benz vehicles is not a necessity but a benefit.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent); Master Technician status or brand-specific training is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert-level capability with Mercedes-Benz proprietary tooling, including in-depth mastery of Xentry, Star Diagnosis, and electronic parts catalogues.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to diagnose intermittent and challenging faults that go beyond routine maintenance.
- Mindset: A highly detail-oriented professional with a commitment to mentorship and the highest standards of workmanship.
- License: Full UK driving license.
