Data centres are one of the fastest moving spaces in engineering right now, and this is a genuine chance to be part of a consultancy that's thriving in it. Our client is a multi disciplinary building services consultancy with a growing, highly regarded Mission Critical team, delivering complex, high profile data centre projects for major international clients.
They're expanding fast and looking for a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join a talented, close knit MEP team. You'll get real ownership of design work, exposure to some of the most technically demanding projects in the sector, and a clear progression path.
What you'll be doing
- Producing conceptual and detailed electrical design solutions in line with client briefs
- Carrying out electrical services design calculations using Trimble (Amtech), Hevacomp and lighting design software
- Supporting Medium Voltage design and utility provider point of connection processes
- Working across MV/LV distribution, substations, UPS, generators, small power, lighting, lightning protection and earthing for mission critical facilities
- Taking projects from feasibility studies and concept design through to detailed design
- Producing electrical specifications and schedules
- Building strong working relationships with architects, structural engineers, project managers and quantity surveyors
- Acting as a technical point of contact for clients
What we're looking for
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline
- Solid data centre or mission critical design experience
- Working toward Chartered status, or already chartered (CIBSE / IET)
- Strong knowledge of MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators and standby power systems
- Familiarity with data centre tier rating systems and hyperscale or colocation requirements
- Working knowledge of Revit and BIM workflows (ACC, BIM 360 and Navisworks are a bonus)
- A collaborative, client facing approach and strong communication skills
