The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Planner to join a major construction project on an interim basis due to an immediate business need within a busy project delivery team. This position offers the chance to take ownership of key planning activities on a complex and high value programme, supporting project teams in achieving critical milestones and successful delivery outcomes.
You will work alongside experienced project, commercial and construction professionals, providing expert planning support, programme analysis and performance reporting. This role is ideally suited to a planning professional with strong Primavera P6 experience, a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to thrive in a fast paced project environment.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Develop, maintain and manage detailed project programmes using recognised planning software.
  • Monitor project performance against key milestones and programme deliverables.
  • Prepare and update short term and long-term project schedules.
  • Produce programme reports, progress updates and management information.
  • Identify programme risks, issues and opportunities, recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and assess the impact of change on programme performance.
  • Support project and commercial teams with programme related analysis and reporting.
  • Facilitate planning and progress review meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Review subcontractor programmes and integrate them into the master schedule.
  • Ensure programme activities comply with contractual requirements and project procedures.
  • Support forecasting, project controls and performance measurement activities.
  • Provide specialist planning advice to project leadership teams.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Proven experience in a Senior Planner position within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure or major project environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Experience developing, maintaining and managing complex project programmes.
  • Excellent understanding of Critical Path Methodology and programme controls.
  • Demonstrable experience in progress reporting, programme analysis and risk management.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

It’s great if you also have the following
  • Experience working on large infrastructure, energy, utilities or major civil engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Membership of a recognised professional body such as APM, CIOB or ICE.
  • Experience with project controls, earned value management or programme recovery planning.

The setting for the role
This is an initial 3 month contract opportunity requiring an immediate start. The role is based in North Wales and involves working 45 hours per week, with a minimum of 4 days per week on site. You will be joining a collaborative and fast paced project environment, working closely with project, commercial and construction teams to support the successful delivery of a major construction programme. This position offers the opportunity to make an immediate and visible impact on programme performance while gaining exposure to key stakeholders and complex project delivery activities.
