About North

North builds stronger networks and creates smarter places through intelligent technology solutions and robust network infrastructure. We work across three specialist sectors: Public Services, Enterprise & Data Centres, and Defence & Justice.

Our people combine technical expertise, collaboration and innovation to deliver solutions that make environments safer, better connected, more efficient and easier to manage. We value knowing your craft, colleagues, customers and how to connect.

The Role

North is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major, multi-year public-sector contract involving leading-brand CCTV, access control and intercom systems. Solutions range from standalone systems to fully integrated platforms incorporating CCTV, access control, fire, intruder alarms and building management systems (BMS).

You will take responsibility for planning, managing and delivering complex projects safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering construction, mechanical and electrical (M&E), or technology installation projects in residential, commercial or other complex environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project delivery: Lead projects from design and procurement through installation, commissioning, testing and handover. Manage scope, schedules, resources, budgets and deliverables, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation, including NSI, BAFE and British Standards.

  • Site management and health & safety: Ensure safe, productive site operations and compliance with CDM Regulations 2015. Oversee risk assessments, method statements, temporary works, site logistics and compound management.

  • Fire safety: Ensure appropriate passive fire protection and fire-stopping solutions are implemented following installation works, maintaining fire integrity.

  • Commercial management: Manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow and cost control. Identify efficiencies while maintaining quality and safety, and oversee variations and change control.

  • Risk management: Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, maintain risk registers and implement mitigation plans.

  • Stakeholder management: Build strong relationships with clients, residents, local authorities, building control and subcontractors. Provide clear, regular updates on progress, milestones, risks and changes.

  • Team leadership: Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors to ensure effective delivery and successful outcomes.

Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience managing complex construction, M&E or technology installation projects.

  • Strong technical knowledge of CCTV and access control systems, with an understanding of active and passive fire protection.

  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and health and safety best practice.

  • Experience managing site logistics, temporary works and subcontractors.

  • Strong commercial skills, including budget management, cost control and change management.

  • Experience in risk and opportunity management.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities.

  • Proficiency in project management software, such as MS Project.

Desirable qualifications:

  • PRINCE2, PMP or APM PMQ.

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate, SMSTS or an equivalent recognised health and safety qualification.

Benefits
  • Competitive remuneration package.

  • Generous annual leave.

  • Contributory pension scheme.

  • Healthcare and wellbeing programmes.

  • Professional development and training.

  • Flexible working arrangements, subject to business needs.

  • Employee assistance programme.
