Location: Derby (DE21)

Hours: Permanent, 39 hours per week

Flexible working hours:

  • Monday to Friday: Start between 7:00am and 8:00am
  • Monday to Thursday: Finish between 4:00pm and 5:00pm
  • Friday: Finish at 12:00pm

We are recruiting for a Senior Quality Engineer to join a growing aerospace manufacturing business in Derby. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced quality professional to maintain and improve quality systems, support customers and drive continuous improvement within a highly regulated aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Quality Engineer:

  • Support the achievement of quality, cost, delivery and operational excellence targets.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Walk the Floor routines to drive performance improvements.
  • Maintain and audit the Quality Management System in line with AS9100, NADCAP and customer requirements.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customer quality queries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Review and implement new or revised customer quality requirements.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Monitor and report quality KPIs, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and manage the internal audit programme.
  • Ensure the business remains audit-ready at all times.
  • Maintain Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA and PPAP documentation.
  • Manage and support AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Lead and participate in customer, regulatory and NADCAP audits.
  • Support the training and development of colleagues.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and external quality issues.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce the cost of non-conformance.
  • Support manufacturing and planning teams in achieving quality and zero-defect objectives.

Key Skills of a Senior Quality Engineer:

  • Previous experience working within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • At least three years' experience in a Quality Engineer or Senior Quality Engineer role.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP and aerospace quality standards.
  • Experience with APQP tools including PFMEA, PPAP, Control Plans and FAIRs.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Well organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
