Senior Site QEHS Manager Lockerbie
Help shape the future of one of the UK’s most significant dairy manufacturing sites
This is an exciting time to join Arla Foods Lockerbie. The site is undergoing significant investment and transformation, including the development and implementation of a new UHT milk processing and packing centre of excellence. This will operate alongside our established cheddar manufacturing, whey processing and fresh milk bottling activities. Together, these developments will transform Lockerbie into one of the UK’s largest, most complex and modern dairy processing facilities.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Site Quality, Environment, Health and Safety Manager to help shape this next chapter. This is a unique opportunity to influence the culture, systems and operating standards of an evolving manufacturing site, while ensuring our existing operations continue to deliver safely, responsibly and to the highest quality standards. This role goes beyond compliance. You will lead through a team of specialists, set the operational and strategic direction for QEHS and ensure that quality, food safety, health, safety and environmental excellence are embedded in everything we do.
As a key member of the Site Leadership Team, you will build strong relationships across the site and wider business. You will combine sound technical judgement with pragmatism and commercial awareness, helping Lockerbie achieve its ambitions while managing risk effectively. This is an opportunity to build, influence and leave a lasting legacy at a site undergoing major transformation.
How will you make an impact?
You will
- Shape the future of Lockerbie, embedding strong QEHS standards across current operations and major new investment.
- Lead and develop the QEHS team, building capability, engagement and a culture where quality, safety and environmental responsibility are owned by everyone.
- Drive the successful integration of the new UHT operation, supporting cheddar, whey and fresh milk manufacturing while ensuring compliance with Arla, customer and legislative standards.
- Set the strategic direction for QEHS, providing strong governance across audits, HACCP, health & safety, environmental management, laboratories, crisis preparedness and risk.
- Champion continuous improvement and sustainability, using data, digital tools and effective stakeholder relationships to reduce risk, improve efficiency and strengthen performance.
What will you need to succeed?
We are looking for an experienced senior leader from a technical, QEHS or operational background within fast-moving consumer goods or a similarly complex manufacturing environment.
You will bring
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to set direction, develop high-performing teams and deliver results through others.
- Broad QEHS expertise across quality, food safety, health & safety and environmental management within a complex, regulated manufacturing environment.
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to communicate, challenge and build credibility at all levels.
- A strategic yet pragmatic mindset, combining commercial awareness with the resilience to lead through change, transformation and operational priorities.
- A passion for people and continuous improvement, with a commitment to coaching, developing capability and creating a culture that goes beyond compliance.
Why Lockerbie?
Few senior QEHS roles offer the opportunity to influence a site at this scale and at such an important point in its development.
You will join an established and diverse manufacturing operation while helping to shape a major new chapter for Lockerbie. You will have the opportunity to influence the standards, systems and culture that will support the site for many years to come.
If you are motivated by transformation, complex manufacturing and the opportunity to make a lasting impact, this could be the role for you.
What do we offer?
We are committed to supporting your growth and development through internal and external training opportunities.
Our benefits include
- Competitive salary
- Variable pay
- Bupa healthcare
- 26 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
- Matched pension contributions of up to 6%
