THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a lead role in the commercial and cost management of major civil infrastructure and construction packages. Acting on behalf of the client, you will protect financial certainty, support procurement and contract administration, and ensure robust cost reporting throughout the programme lifecycle.

The programme covers new piers and aircraft stands, major airfield upgrades, terminal redesign, surface access and transport improvements, and upgraded drainage and utilities. You will work in a live, safety-critical environment where robust governance, stakeholder management and disciplined delivery are essential.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

- Lead cost management and commercial control across multiple infrastructure and construction work packages.

- Develop cost strategies, budgets, governance processes and programme-wide reporting systems.

- Review pre-tender estimates, schedules of rates, bills of quantities, cost plans and procurement documentation.

- Provide commercial input to tender evaluation, benchmarking, value management and procurement decisions.

- Review valuations, variations, payment recommendations, forecasts, cost reports and final accounts.

- Manage change control, retentions, liquidated damages, claims, disputes and commercial negotiations.

- Advise project and programme teams on financial risk, contractual entitlement and cost implications.

- Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and identify trends, risks and opportunities.

- Review contractor KPIs and drive accurate forecasting, commercial compliance and value for money.

- Mentor less experienced Quantity Surveyors and support consistent commercial standards across the programme.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management or a related discipline.

- Significant senior-level cost-management experience on major civil infrastructure, transport, utilities, water, energy or large construction projects.

- Strong pre-contract and post-contract experience, including procurement, valuations, variations, claims and final accounts.

- Good working knowledge of NEC contracts and formal change-control processes.

- Client-side or consultancy experience is strongly preferred.

- Registration on the Statutory Register of Quantity Surveyors in Ireland is required where applicable; chartered RICS or SCSI status is preferred.

- Excellent commercial judgement, stakeholder-management and digital cost-reporting skills.
