As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will act as the commercial conscience of the delivery team, providing expert cost and commercial support across a range of complex civil engineering projects. Working closely with project managers, site teams, and key stakeholders, you’ll play a vital role in controlling costs, maximising value, managing risk, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and successfully.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of commercial and cost management across allocated projects or programmes of work
  • Lead robust cost control processes, ensuring accurate reporting, forecasting, and commercial analysis
  • Provide commercial insight to support key project decisions and drive successful outcomes
  • Ensure project teams understand contractual obligations and commercial requirements
  • Work collaboratively with delivery teams to identify and implement efficiency improvements
  • Monitor project performance, manage risk, and support value improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate records, including project accounts and final accounts, ensuring audit and assurance requirements are met
  • Support compliance with internal governance, contractual obligations, and client requirements

About You

We’re looking for an experienced and commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor who thrives in a collaborative project environment and enjoys making a tangible impact on delivery.

Essential:

  • Extensive experience managing costs within construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to analyse data, identify opportunities, and manage risk
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project delivery teams and senior stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Experience working within infrastructure, utilities, or major projects
  • Membership of a professional body or working towards professional accreditation
