Company OverviewA growing specialist civils contractor is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to step up or a Senior Quantity Surveyor eager to oversee a large scale framework project in Bristol. The role offers a competitive salary package of up to £70,000 alongside attractive benefits.
Job Duties- Manage and prepare detailed cost estimates, tender submissions and commercial reports for civils projects within a large scale framework.
- Oversee contract administration, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project costs and cash flow, identifying and addressing any variances promptly to maintain budget control.
- Carry out valuation of interim payments, final accounts, variations and claims in accordance with contract requirements.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers and clients to provide commercial advice and support decision-making.
- Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
- Prepare and submit regular cost reports and forecasts to senior management, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Ensure all commercial documentation is accurate, complete and maintained in line with company procedures.
- Support the development and implementation of commercial processes and systems to improve efficiency.
- Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and assist in building a strong commercial team.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification recognised within the United Kingdom.
- Full, valid United Kingdom driving licence.
- Degree-level qualification in Quantity Surveying or a closely related discipline.
- Proven track record working on civils projects, preferably within a contractor environment.
- Experience managing large scale frameworks or multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrable experience in contract administration and cost control.
- Proficient with IT.
- Good communicator and liaison with clients.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial principles relevant to civils projects.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, capable of liaising with various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in commercial software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Membership of a recognised professional body in Quantity Surveying (e.g. Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
- Additional training or certification in civil engineering or project management would be advantageous.
- Primarily office-based with regular visits to construction sites within the South West region.
- Full-time hours, typically Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility required to meet project demands.
- Working from home after probation period.
- Use of personal vehicle for site visits; car and fuel allowances provided.
- Work environment includes exposure to construction site conditions adhering to health and safety regulations.
