A global medical device company is looking for a Senior R&D Engineer to join their team on a long-term contract basis. The purpose of the role is to support the development of a next-generation Class III medical device platform, with a strong focus on design iteration, design freeze execution, design verification (DV), test method development, and technical problem-solving within a fast-paced New Product Development environment.

Essential skills:

  • 5+ years' medical device product development experience
  • Proven experience supporting products through Design Freeze and Design Verification (DV)
  • Hands-on verification testing, protocol/report writing, and test method development
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution experience
  • Experience operating within a regulated Class III medical device environment
  • Ability to drive technical workstreams independently with minimal supervision

Desirable skills:

  • Bonding / adhesive development experience
  • Design Controls and Risk Management
  • Statistical analysis and DOE (Minitab)

The start date is for ASAP/October but they can wait for the right person. The initial contract length is for 18 months, with multiple extension options after. The role is based in Galway and will require 5 days onsite per week, once trust has been built up this can flex to 4 days. The rate is between €45 - €55 per hour depending on experience.
