We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established children's residential provider seeking a passionate and dedicated Senior Residential Care Worker to support young people aged 8-17 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a therapeutic, child-centred service where you'll lead by example, support your team and help young people build brighter futures.
The Role
Working alongside the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, you'll lead shifts, support your colleagues and ensure children receive safe, nurturing and high-quality care every day.
You'll play a vital role in creating a stable home environment, promoting positive outcomes and helping young people develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate shifts, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
- Support, supervise and mentor Residential Care Workers.
- Deliver high-quality, therapeutic care tailored to individual needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
- Promote positive behaviour using trauma-informed approaches.
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and challenging situations.
- Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and care documentation.
- Support care planning, risk assessments and placement planning.
- Work closely with social workers, schools, families and other professionals.
- Encourage participation in education, appointments and community activities.
- Assist with the induction and development of new staff.
- Ensure compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, Ofsted standards and safeguarding legislation.
About You
To be successful, you'll have:
- Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People's Workforce (or equivalent Residential Childcare qualification)
- Previous experience within a Children's Residential Home
- Experience supporting young people with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
- Experience leading shifts or supervising staff
- Excellent safeguarding knowledge
- Strong communication and report-writing skills
- A positive, resilient and child-focused approach
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour confidently
- Full UK Driving Licence
