Location: St Helens 
Salary: £14.20 per hour + £50 per sleep-in
Hours: Full-time

We are currently recruiting for experienced Senior Residential Support Workers to join children’s residential homes across St Helens and Wigan.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional who is passionate about supporting children and young people and wants to take the next step in their career.

The role

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people aged 8–18. You will help create a safe, stable and nurturing environment while supporting young people with their emotional, social and practical development.

You will also take a lead role within the home, supporting the wider staff team and helping to ensure care is delivered in line with individual care plans and safeguarding requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing high-quality care and support to children and young people
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and development
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
  • Acting as a positive role model
  • Supporting staff within the home and providing guidance when required
  • Completing accurate records, reports and handovers
  • Following safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Working alongside managers and external professionals
  • Promoting independence and helping young people develop life skills
  • Taking responsibility for the home and young people during shifts when required

About you

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Previous experience working within a children’s residential setting
  • Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A professional and resilient approach
  • The confidence to take responsibility and lead by example
  • A Level 3 qualification in Children & Young People or equivalent is desirable
