Senior Site Engineer (Setting Out) – Major National Grid Project

We're looking for an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join a major National Grid infrastructure project in Stowmarket, Suffolk. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role on a high-profile civil engineering scheme, supporting the successful delivery of the project's early works and setting the foundation for the main construction phase.

The Role

As a Senior Site Engineer, you'll take ownership of all setting out activities while providing technical support and site supervision throughout the preliminary works. Working alongside the site management team, you'll ensure works are delivered safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and site plans.
• Carry out accurate setting out for site compounds, concrete bases, and associated civil engineering works.
• Oversee and coordinate subcontractors on site.
• Ensure works are completed in accordance with design, programme, quality, and health & safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate site records and survey information.
• Support the Site Manager with the day-to-day delivery of the project.
• Identify and resolve technical issues as they arise.

About You

You'll have a strong background in civil engineering projects and be confident leading setting out activities with minimal supervision.

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Senior Site Engineer, Site Engineer, or Section Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Excellent setting out and surveying experience.
• CSCS Card.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to work independently and manage site activities.

Desirable:

• SMSTS (preferred) or SSSTS.
• Experience on National Grid, utilities, highways, or other major infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of QA documentation and as-built surveys.
