Senior Site Manager
Rommbic
Job Description:
Senior Site Manager – Facades & Cladding | Northwest England
Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 + bonus (or equivalent day rate for the right contractor) | Full package discussed at interview
Location: Site-based across the Northwest of England
Type: Full-time, permanent (day rate considered)
The Opportunity
Most Senior Site Manager roles are a case of stepping into an established machine and keeping it running. This one isn't.
Our client is a specialist facade contractor with a decade of delivery behind them and a genuinely strong reputation in rainscreen and remediation work. They're now taking on more schemes as principal contractor in their own right — a real step up in scope and responsibility for the business — and they need an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead that delivery on the ground.
This is a role with visibility. You'll be working directly with the directors, not three layers below them. If you've spent years running sites for larger contractors and want your work to actually count for something, this is a chance to shape how a growing business delivers.
About the Company
Our client is a Northwest-based specialist facade contractor with over 30 years of combined industry experience across the team. They deliver bespoke rainscreen and cladding solutions nationally — new build, refurbishment and post-Grenfell remediation — for architects, developers, main contractors and local authorities.
They handle the whole process in-house, from technical design and specification through to supply and installation, including their own CAD design team. They're approved installers for a range of leading system manufacturers, and their work spans brick slip and aluminium systems, terracotta rainscreens, natural stone cladding, cement fibre boards, secondary steelwork and EWI.
The work is technically demanding and often high-stakes: fire compliance, EWS1 certification, occupied buildings and residents who need the job done properly. It's the kind of work that has earned them industry facade awards, a Supply Chain Partner of the Year win with a major national contractor, and repeat business from clients who could go anywhere.
They're a tight, close-knit team where people stay — several have been there since the early days. Small enough that your input is heard, established enough that the pipeline is real.
The Role
As Senior Site Manager, you'll take full ownership of project delivery on site — running schemes from mobilisation through to handover, across both facade packages and, increasingly, full principal contractor appointments.
You'll be the senior presence on site: managing the programme, the subcontractors, the health and safety, and the client relationship. Expect a mix of new build and remediation work across the Northwest.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading delivery on site from mobilisation to practical completion and handover
- Acting as principal contractor on schemes where the business holds that appointment — owning CDM duties, site set-up and overall site control
- Managing directly employed operatives and subcontractors, including trades outside the facade package
- Owning site health, safety and welfare: RAMS, inductions, toolbox talks, permits and audits
- Driving the programme, tracking progress and flagging risk early
- Quality control and inspection — ITPs, hold points, snagging and sign-off
- Liaising with clients, main contractors, architects, building control and residents
- Working closely with the in-house design and technical team to resolve issues before they hit site
- Reporting progress, cost and risk back to the directors
About You
- Proven experience as a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager in construction, ideally with facades, cladding or building envelope exposure
- Experience of cladding remediation or fire safety compliance work is a strong advantage
- Comfortable holding the ring as principal contractor, or ready to step up into it with support
- SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold) and First Aid at Work — or willing to get them
- Strong on health and safety, with a genuine feel for CDM responsibilities
- Confident managing subcontractors and holding people to programme and standard
- Able to read drawings and specifications and spot the problem before it's built
- A calm, credible communicator — comfortable with clients, contractors and residents alike
- Full UK driving licence
What's On Offer
- £50,000 – £65,000 basic salary depending on experience
- Bonus structure
- Day rate considered for the right contractor
- Full package including travel, holiday and pension discussed at interview
- Direct access to the senior team and real influence over how projects are run
- The chance to help build out delivery capability as the business grows into principal contractor work
- Varied, technically interesting projects rather than the same scheme repeated
- A stable, well-regarded business with a strong order book and a genuine team feel
