About the Role

Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Family Help Team based at Beacon House, Ipswich.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality social work services to children and families, undertaking assessments and managing complex cases to ensure children receive the right support at the right time.

Location: Beacon House, Ipswich, Suffolk
Rate: £40.50 per hour
Working Pattern: Hybrid working (minimum 3 days per week office-based)
Contract: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families in line with statutory responsibilities.
  • Manage a caseload of Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases.
  • Develop and review effective plans to safeguard children and improve outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and partner agencies.
  • Complete accurate and timely case recordings, assessments, and reports.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support service improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with safeguarding legislation, policies, and best practice.

About You

  • Qualified Social Worker status and current Social Work England registration.
  • Significant experience working within Children's Social Care.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of managing Child in Need and Child Protection cases.
  • Excellent assessment, risk management, and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong partnership-working and communication skills.

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working model with a requirement to attend the office at Beacon House, Ipswich, a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Opportunity to work within a supportive and experienced Family Help Team focused on achieving positive outcomes for children and families.

Candidates must be local to Suffolk and able to meet the office attendance requirements.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules.
