Senior Social Worker – Assessment & Intervention Service

Location: Southwark, London
Pay Rate: £39.04 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: Agency/Temporary
Hours: Full-time

We are seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Assessment & Intervention Service in Southwark. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner to manage complex cases, complete statutory assessments and support positive outcomes for children and families.

The Role

You will deliver high-quality, relationship-based social work practice, completing Section 17 and Section 47 assessments, initial court work and Looked After Children processes. You will work collaboratively with families, partner agencies and colleagues to assess risk, safeguard children and develop effective plans.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete complex child and family assessments and safeguarding interventions.
• Manage a caseload involving child protection, court and care planning processes.
• Develop and review child-centred plans with families and partner agencies.
• Prepare high-quality reports for meetings and court proceedings.
• Maintain accurate case records and evidence-based assessments.
• Support and mentor less experienced social workers, students and NQSWs.
• Contribute to effective multi-agency working and service development.

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Significant experience within statutory children’s social care.
• Strong experience of S17/S47 assessments, child protection and court work.
• Excellent analytical, assessment and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently with complex cases.
• Strong commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.

Pay Rate: £39.04 per hour (Umbrella)
