Senior Structural Engineer
Harrogate
An established and highly respected Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer to join its growing team in Harrogate. With an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions across the residential, commercial, industrial and education sectors, this is an outstanding opportunity to become part of a collaborative consultancy where technical excellence, client relationships and career development are genuinely valued.
As the business continues to grow through repeat business and long-standing client partnerships, they are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer who is looking to take the next step in their career. You'll work on a diverse portfolio of projects from concept through to completion, taking ownership of structural designs whilst playing an important role in mentoring junior Engineers and helping to maintain the high technical standards the Consultancy is known for.
Working closely with Architects, Developers, Contractors and fellow Engineers, you'll be responsible for delivering innovative and practical structural solutions across a wide variety of building projects. The role offers genuine variety, with involvement in feasibility studies, detailed design, structural assessments, site inspections and client-facing meetings, giving you the opportunity to see projects through every stage of the design process.
The successful candidate will have proven experience designing structures in steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber, producing calculations, technical reports and construction information in accordance with current British Standards and Eurocodes. You'll be confident managing your own workload, coordinating with clients and design teams, attending project meetings and ensuring designs are delivered to programme and the highest technical standards.
Applicants should hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and have previous experience within a UK Consultancy environment. Proficiency with industry-standard design software such as TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer, MasterSeries or similar is essential, alongside AutoCAD experience. Exposure to Revit and BIM workflows would be advantageous, although not essential.
Strong communication skills, commercial awareness and a proactive approach are key, as you'll regularly liaise with clients, architects, contractors and local authorities whilst also supporting and mentoring Graduate and Assistant Engineers as the team continues to grow. Chartered Engineers, or those actively working towards Chartership with the ICE or IStructE, are encouraged to apply.
In return, you'll be joining a well-established Consultancy with an outstanding reputation for technical excellence and staff retention. You'll work alongside a highly experienced team on a varied and interesting project portfolio, with genuine opportunities to progress your career as the business continues to expand. The company offers a highly competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, recognising the value experienced Engineers bring to the business, together with ongoing investment in professional development and Chartership support.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer looking to join a respected Consultancy where you'll have the autonomy to lead projects, influence technical delivery and build a long-term career within a successful and growing business.
