Overview
Our client is a highly respected building services consultancy with a growing reputation as a leader within the data centre sector. Due to continued growth and increasing demand for sustainability expertise, they are looking to appoint a Senior Sustainability Consultant to take ownership of their Whole Life Carbon (WLC) and Circular Economy (CE) services.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced sustainability professional who can not only deliver technical assessments but also help shape and develop the consultancy's sustainability offering alongside senior leadership.
While BREEAM experience is beneficial, the primary focus of this role is Whole Life Carbon, embodied carbon analysis, and Circular Economy reporting, particularly in support of London Plan and GLA requirements.
The successful candidate will play a key role in bringing more sustainability services in-house, reducing reliance on external consultants and establishing best practice processes across the business.

The Role
This position is focused on the delivery and development of:
- Whole Life Carbon (WLC) Assessments
- Circular Economy Statements
- Embodied Carbon Analysis
- GLA and London Plan sustainability requirements
Working closely with senior leadership, you will help build and strengthen the consultancy's internal sustainability capability, developing methodologies, reporting standards and client-facing services.
You will be responsible for delivering projects from inception through to completion, producing high-quality reports and advising clients on carbon reduction strategies throughout the design process.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of Whole Life Carbon Assessments across a range of projects
- Produce Circular Economy Statements and associated reporting
- Develop embodied carbon reduction strategies and recommendations
- Support compliance with GLA and London Plan sustainability requirements
- Write and manage technical sustainability reports from initial concept through to submission
- Work collaboratively with engineers, architects and project teams
- Help develop and expand the consultancy's sustainability service offering
- Reduce reliance on external sustainability consultants by delivering services in-house
- Support business growth through technical excellence and client engagement
Requirements
- Strong experience delivering Whole Life Carbon Assessments
- Excellent understanding of embodied carbon principles and carbon reporting methodologies
- Experience producing Circular Economy Statements
- Ability to independently manage projects and deliver high-quality technical reports
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Consultancy experience within the built environment sector
- Understanding of GLA and London Plan sustainability requirements
Desirable
- BREEAM Assessor qualification and assessment experience
- Experience working on data centre projects
- Knowledge of TM65 and/or TM64 methodologies
- Experience with MEP-related carbon calculations
- Broader sustainability consultancy experience within complex developments
