Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a highly regarded, independent planning consultancy in the search for an experienced Senior Town Planner with a strong background in rural planning.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing specialist consultancy with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality planning advice to farmers, landowners, estates, rural businesses and developers across England and Wales. The practice has built its success on technical excellence, client relationships and a genuine passion for supporting sustainable rural development. The team works across a diverse range of planning projects including agricultural development, farm diversification, equestrian schemes, barn conversions, Class Q and Class R permitted development, replacement dwellings, rural workers' dwellings, tourism developments, and strategic rural land opportunities.



The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will take ownership of a varied caseload while working closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team. You will provide strategic planning advice, prepare and manage planning applications and appeals, liaise with local planning authorities and represent clients throughout the planning process.

This role offers genuine autonomy, the opportunity to work on complex and rewarding rural planning projects, and clear progression within a supportive and ambitious consultancy.



About You

To be considered, you should have:

  • MRTPI status (or be working towards Chartership if approaching completion).
  • Several years' experience within a planning consultancy or local authority.
  • Strong experience in rural planning, including agricultural, countryside and rural development projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK planning system and relevant planning legislation.
  • Experience preparing planning applications, appeals and planning appraisals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A commercial mindset with excellent client-facing abilities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
