Senior Transport Operations Manager

This is a key senior role within a fast-paced operation, working closely with the Transport Manager to oversee day-to-day transport activity while helping to improve systems, processes and operational efficiency as the business continues to grow.

You will be responsible for supporting the management of a busy operation

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and supporting a team of drivers

• Managing day-to-day transport operations and resolving issues as they arise

• Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours, tachographs, Operator Licence requirements and transport legislation

• Overseeing health & safety, incident investigations and risk assessments

• Managing agency drivers and subcontractors

• Monitoring vehicle, driver and operational performance

• Supporting the Transport Manager and providing cover when required

• Improving processes and introducing more efficient ways of working

• Supporting the implementation of new transport systems, technology and automation

• Using KPIs and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement

• Participating in an out-of-hours and weekend on-call rota

We are looking for an experienced transport professional with a strong background in road haulage, fleet operations or transport management. A real opportunity to grow and shape the operation.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Transport Manager, Operations Manager, Traffic Manager or similar

• Transport Manager CPC - National & International

• Strong knowledge of Operator Licence requirements and UK transport legislation

• Experience managing drivers within a busy transport operation

• Knowledge of drivers' hours, tachographs and WTD

• Strong health & safety and compliance knowledge

• Experience managing subcontractors and agency drivers

• A hands-on, calm and solutions-focused approach

• Experience improving processes, systems or transport operations

Experience within specialist, time-critical, events or complex transport operations would be an advantage.
