Are you an experienced and technically rigorous Senior Utility Surveyor looking to take complete project ownership within an established, quality-focused surveying practice?

A Leading Specialist is expanding its operations and seeking a highly skilled Senior Utility Surveyor to cover Herefordshire, the West Midlands, and UK-wide project sites. This is a pivotal role offering the chance to lead complex subsurface utility mapping projects from initial site mark-outs through to final CAD deliverables, whilst mentoring developing surveyors in the field.

The Opportunity: You will play a vital role in delivering end-to-end utility detection workflows to strict compliance standards. Your day-to-day remit involves:

  • Planning and executing PAS 128 Type B subsurface utility surveys using advanced GPR and EML detection equipment.

  • Collecting high-precision survey points using GPS and processing raw field data into accurate drawings via BricsCAD and AutoCAD.

  • Taking full technical ownership of projects from initial field mark-out through to completed client drawings.

  • Working alongside and mentoring assistant and trainee utility surveyors, providing practical on-site guidance and quality assurance.

    The Package:

  • Base salary of £38,000 - £45,000 (dependent on experience and independent drafting delivery).

  • Dedicated, fully equipped company van and allocated surveying equipment.

  • Shift allowance incorporating travel time, plus fully covered hotel accommodation for overnight stays.

  • Stable advance scheduling (typically 2-week visibility) within an established 7-person utility team, offering clear scope for professional leadership.

Technical Essentials: To be successful, you must demonstrate high-level technical proficiency:

  • Mandatory: Minimum 5 years of verified utility surveying experience with proven capability delivering full survey-to-cadastre workflows independently.

  • Compliance/Systems: Strong working knowledge of PAS 128 standards; proficient in GPR, EML, and GPS hardware; advanced drafting skills in BricsCAD, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software.

  • Experience: Comprehensive background in subsurface utility tracing, on-site mark-outs, post-processing, and junior staff supervision; drainage survey exposure advantageous.

  • Mobility: Full UK Driving Licence; willingness to travel nationwide with planned overnight stays (hotel accommodation provided; work scheduled two weeks in advance).
