Location: Midlands, UK (Field-Based)
Salary: £45,000–£47,000 + Door-to-Door Overtime + Company Vehicle
OTE: £65,000+ (based on 50–55 hour weeks)
Are you an experienced Field Service Engineer with a background in automated machinery? Do you enjoy fault finding, travelling across the UK and working on a variety of mechanical and electrical systems?
We are seeking a Service Engineer to join a leading manufacturer of palletising, bagging and packaging equipment. Based in the Midlands, you'll travel throughout the UK carrying out installation support, servicing, preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs on a wide range of automated machinery.
The Role
As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing palletisers, bagging machines and packaging lines.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responding to breakdowns.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults, including:
- Pneumatics
- Gearboxes
- Motors
- Shafts
- Pulleys
- Bearings
- Chains and drives
- Carrying out electrical fault finding, including:
- Reading electrical schematics
- Wiring into control panels
- Testing electrical components
- Replacing relays, sensors and other control devices
- PLC fault finding and basic software diagnostics.
- Working with HMI systems, inputs/outputs and making minor software adjustments where required.
- Delivering a high level of customer service while working independently on customer sites.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Previous Field Service Engineer experience (this is essential).
- Experience working on automation, packaging, bagging, food processing or beverage production machinery.
- A strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding background.
- Experience with mechanical components such as pneumatics, gearboxes, motors, shafts, pulleys and bearings.
- The ability to read electrical schematics and carry out electrical fault finding.
- Basic PLC fault-finding experience and confidence working with HMIs and I/O diagnostics.
- A full UK driving licence.
- The flexibility to travel extensively throughout the UK and stay away from home during the week.
Travel
- Field-based role covering customer sites across the UK.
- Typically 3–5 nights away from home each week.
- Weekend work is occasional and not a regular requirement.
Package
- Basic salary of £45,000–£47,000
- OTE of £65,000+
- Door-to-door paid overtime
