Coventry City Council Adult Social Care is seeking an experienced, confident and values-led Service Manager to join its operational leadership team on an initial three-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Adult Social Care leader to play a key role in delivering high-quality, strengths-based and person-centred services across Coventry. The successful candidate will provide visible operational leadership, support managers and practitioners, and contribute to continuous improvement across a complex and changing Adult Social Care environment.

Coventry Adult Social Care has recently received a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, reflecting its commitment to supporting adults to live well, maximise independence, remain connected to their communities and access the right support at the right time. This role will contribute to maintaining and strengthening those standards.

As Service Manager, you will lead designated service areas while also contributing to wider operational activity across Adult Social Care. You will provide strong leadership across performance, practice quality, risk management and resources, working flexibly across service boundaries to respond to demand and support effective service delivery.

You will also act as a constructive critical friend to other Service Managers, providing support, challenge and shared learning to help manage operational pressures, improve practice and ensure safe, responsive and effective services for Coventry residents.

The service is continuing to develop its Neighbourhood model, meaning portfolios and responsibilities may evolve. We are therefore looking for a manager who is comfortable working in a changing environment, can embrace transformation and can help shape services around the changing needs of local communities.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of managing Adult Social Care services and will be confident providing leadership to managers and frontline practitioners. You will be expected to promote accountability, professional curiosity, strong practice standards and a positive workplace culture.

You will use performance information, data, quality assurance and feedback to understand demand, assess impact, manage risk and identify opportunities for improvement. You will also contribute to service planning, workforce resilience, financial sustainability and effective resource management.

The role will involve working across areas including Learning Disability, Community Mental Health and wider Adult Social Care services. You will work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners and providers to improve outcomes for adults and unpaid carers.

Digital transformation is also an important part of the role. You will support the implementation and embedding of digital solutions, including tools such as Scribe, helping to reduce administrative demands, improve efficiency and create more capacity for meaningful work with people.

We are looking for a skilled Adult Social Care leader who combines strong operational management with excellent professional judgement and the ability to work effectively across a complex system. You will be confident using data and evidence to support decision-making, demonstrate impact and drive service improvement.

You will need to demonstrate strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, partner organisations and providers. A commitment to strengths-based practice, inclusive leadership, continuous improvement and positive outcomes for adults is essential.

This is a high-profile operational leadership opportunity for an experienced Adult Social Care professional who can provide immediate leadership, operational grip and positive challenge while supporting Coventry's continued service development.

If you have strong Adult Social Care management experience and are available for an immediate or short-notice contract, we would like to hear from you.
