Our client is a global leader in engineering and manufacturing, delivering specialist process equipment and engineering solutions across a range of industries. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Service Technician to join their team based in Congleton.
This is a field-based role requiring extensive travel throughout the UK, with occasional travel across Europe. The successful candidate should expect to work away from home from Monday morning to Friday afternoon on a regular basis, with all travel and accommodation expenses covered.
The RoleAs a Service Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out the maintenance, servicing, repair and installation of specialist industrial plant equipment at customer sites throughout the UK. This is a hands-on role involving mechanical fitting, fault finding and preventative maintenance, ensuring equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out mechanical maintenance, servicing and repairs on industrial plant equipment.
- Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM), inspections and breakdown repairs.
- Dismantle machinery for cleaning, inspection and replacement of worn or damaged components.
- Reassemble, install and commission equipment following maintenance or repair work.
- Travel to customer sites across the UK, with occasional visits to Europe.
- Assist with equipment installation, commissioning and on-site fault finding.
- Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Communicate professionally with customers and internal departments.
- Assist with stock control and spare parts management at the Congleton facility.
- Work safely within industrial environments while following company health and safety procedures.
- Undertake physically demanding work, including lifting, dismantling and handling heavy mechanical components.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Service Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Engineer or in a similar mechanical engineering role.
- Strong mechanical fitting and industrial maintenance experience.
- Experience servicing, repairing and fault finding on industrial machinery.
- Previous experience within the water, gas, process, manufacturing, energy or nuclear sectors would be highly advantageous.
- Experience working with industrial pipework and associated mechanical equipment.
- A practical approach to diagnosing faults and identifying effective solutions.
- The flexibility to work away from home throughout the working week.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a small engineering team.
- Good physical fitness, as the role involves manual handling and physically demanding activities.
- £31,000–£35,000 DOE
- Field-based role with nationwide travel
- Monday to Friday, 43-hour working week
- Typical off-site working hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 5:00pm
- Friday: 7:00am – Early Afternoon
- All travel, accommodation and business expenses paid
