The Opportunity

Morgan Jones is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Foreman to lead daily factory operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee production activities, support and develop employees, and ensure products are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the day-to-day running of the sheet metal production department
  • Allocate labour and resources to meet production priorities
  • Monitor workflow, productivity and delivery performance
  • Lead, motivate and develop production teams
  • Conduct daily briefings and support team leaders
  • Ensure customer specifications and quality standards are achieved
  • Investigate production and quality issues and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping
  • Review schedules and monitor work in progress
  • Liaise with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Stores teams
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Track KPIs including OTIF, labour productivity, quality and machine utilisation

 

What We're Looking For

 

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience supervising within a sheet metal manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of laser cutting, punch press, press brake, MIG/TIG welding and assembly
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using root cause analysis techniques such as 5 Whys
  • Organised, hands-on and confident working under pressure

 

Desirable

 

  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • 3S/5S knowledge
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • First Aid qualification
  • Forklift licence
  • ERP/MRP system experience
