We are recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Ellesmere Port.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on operational leader to take responsibility for leading production activities during their assigned shift, ensuring the safe, efficient and effective delivery of operational targets.
The Role
As Shift Manager, you will lead and motivate operational teams, ensuring production activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with quality, output and performance expectations.
You will work closely with Maintenance, Technical and other operational teams to minimise downtime, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, supervise and motivate teams during your assigned shift.
• Ensure all activities are completed in line with Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality and company standards.
• Monitor operational performance against output, quality, efficiency and cost targets.
• Work closely with Maintenance and Technical teams to minimise downtime and maintain operational effectiveness.
• Manage staffing levels, shift handovers and daily operational reporting.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and performance.
• Ensure company policies, procedures and quality standards are consistently followed.
• Respond effectively to operational issues and challenges as they arise.
• Lead, develop and support your team, including dealing with day-to-day people and HR-related matters.
What We're Looking For
• Previous experience within a Manufacturing, Production, Operations or Industrial environment.
• Proven experience in a Supervisory, Team Leader or Shift Management position.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing or operational environment.
• Experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership abilities.
• Experience dealing with employee and HR-related matters.
• Flexible approach to working shifts, including nights and weekends where required.
Desirable
• Relevant Technical, Engineering, Manufacturing or Management qualification.
• Experience of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement or Operational Excellence methodologies.
• Experience working with production planning systems, KPIs and operational performance metrics.
Salary: £49,500 - £54,000 per annum, dependant on shift pattern.
