Shift Mechanical Fitter   Location: West Thurrock, Essex   Salary: £55,028.60 per annum   Shift Pattern: 4 On, 4 Off – 2 Days, 2 Nights   Holiday: 17.5 days holiday  
 
Pin Point Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Mechanical Fitter to join an established industrial manufacturing site in West Thurrock.
 
 
This is a permanent shift-based position, working as part of the site maintenance team. You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across a range of industrial plant and equipment, helping to keep production running safely and efficiently.
 
  The Role  
·         Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs.
·         Diagnosing mechanical faults across a range of industrial equipment.
·         Maintaining and repairing conveyors, screws, presses, compressors, bucket elevators and associated machinery.
·         Carrying out routine inspections and testing of mechanical systems and components.
·         Working on pipework, including the installation and maintenance of gaskets, flanges and fixings.
·         Installing and maintaining plastic pipework.
·         Carrying out mechanical seal installation, maintenance and setting.
·         Completing alignment of drive systems using DTI and laser alignment equipment.
·         Monitoring plant during production and identifying potential equipment failures before they cause disruption.
·         Working from mechanical drawings, schematics and technical information.
·         Completing preventative maintenance tasks through the site's CMMS system.
·         Recording maintenance activities, faults and required spares accurately.
·         Completing effective shift handovers and communicating outstanding maintenance issues.
·         Working alongside Mechanical and Instrumentation teams to provide an effective maintenance service.
·         Liaising with external contractors and service companies when required.
·         Supporting planned outages and turnaround activities when required.
·         Completing risk assessments and method statements where required.
·         Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.
 
  About You  
·         A City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent.
·         Previous experience working within industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, paper, power generation, oil & gas, food, FMCG or similar.
·         Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
·         Experience with planned and reactive maintenance.
·         Knowledge of isolation and LOTO procedures.
·         Experience working with steam and compressed air systems.
·         Good understanding of mechanical pipework and associated equipment.
·         Awareness of PSSR, LOLER, PUWER and COSHH requirements.
·         Experience working at height and/or confined spaces would be advantageous.
·         Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
·         The ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and schematics.
·         Good computer skills and the ability to use maintenance management systems.
