Shift Team Leader
Salary – £45,718 - £68,577 (plus benefits)
Hours – Full-Time, 24-hour shift system
Location – Gloucestershire Energy from Waste Facility, GL10 3ET
As a Shift Team Leader at FCC Environment, you will supervise and provide direction to the shift team, ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently and in compliance with all design parameters, permits and safety requirements. You will take responsibility for operational matters arising during your shift and provide leadership outside of normal office hours.

What will you be doing?
- Leading and supervising the shift team within a 24-hour operational environment
- Acting as the Senior Authorised Person and ensuring the correct application of site safety rules
- Managing emergency situations and coordinating responses with stakeholders and emergency services
- Ensuring the facility operates in compliance with design criteria, planning conditions and environmental permits
- Promoting a strong safety culture and maintaining high standards of housekeeping
- Monitoring waste acceptance and ensuring non-conforming waste is managed appropriately
- Ensuring all facility inputs and outputs are processed accurately and efficiently
- Conducting performance reviews and providing coaching and guidance to team members
- Supporting continuous improvement and the development of operational competence within the shift team
- Producing detailed incident reports, shift logs and operational performance data
- Maximising plant availability, efficiency and reliability
- Completing effective shift handovers and providing cover for other Shift Team Leaders when required
What are we looking for?
- Extensive operational experience within the power generation sector, such as Energy from Waste, CCGT, Oil, Coal, Biomass, or as a time-served Royal Navy Engineer
- Experience working in demanding and fast-paced operational environments
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, safe systems of work and operational compliance requirements
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- A flexible and adaptable approach to work
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Good IT and computer skills
- Completion of relevant competency modules and technical training requirements
