We are actively looking to engage transport, freight, logistics professionals with a passion transport planning & management for a new role as a Shipping Co-ordinator in Derbyshire! This role is for an 18 month fixed-term contract with potential options to move into permanent employment.

Our client is a SME freight forwarding business, with huge ambitions for growth, in the freight & shipping industry. You will be joining a fast-pace environment assisting in finding logistics solutions for some of the world's largest industrial, retail & FMCG based customers. My client focuses on searching air freight, sea freight & road freight solutions, which are both cost effective & time sensitive.

Job Description

As a Shipping Co-ordinator you will report into the Shipping & Logistics Manager on a daily basis and will be responsible for the following areas of responsibility within the Derbyshire office.

  • Manage all orders of full-loads, part-loads and groupage pallet distribution across a large fleet of HGV, LGV, Courier and Sub-contracted vehicles.
  • Manage subcontracted air & sea freight orders sent via freight forwarders across our network
  • Preparing and monitoring export & import paperwork and documentation - such as commercial invoices, export packing lists, customs declarations for worldwide shipments 
  • Liase directly with customers for updates on their delivery and to provide pricing and invoice details.
  • Review and provide Operations and the Commercial team with carrier collection schedules, making any necessary adjustments in line with the customer's requirements.
  • Support the Shipping & Logistics Manager with RFQs for new customers and support with new integrations and processes.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Shipping Co-ordinator will have an expansive background in shipping, logistics, logistics planning & operations and will have the following skills & experience:

  • 2+ years' experience in a shipping & logistics / co-ordination role ideally in a 3PL, in-house shipper or freight forwarding role
  • Experience with import and export documentation and paperwork
  • Ability to work a days shift pattern (Monday to Friday)
  • Commutable to Derbyshire.
  • Ability to conduct an 18 month fixed-term contract.
