A global manufacturing business is seeking a Shipping Officer to support international shipping operations, ensuring products are delivered efficiently and compliantly to customers worldwide.

The Shipping Officer will play a key role in coordinating export and import activities, managing shipping documentation and customs processes, and acting as a central point of contact for delivery-related enquiries. Working closely with Sales, Engineering, Production, Finance and external logistics partners, you will help ensure shipments are processed accurately, on time and in line with customer expectations.

Specific duties of the Shipping Officer include:

  • Manage and coordinate international export and import shipments, ensuring deliveries are completed in line with customer and business requirements.
  • Generate invoices and maintain accurate shipping administration within the ERP system.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer and internal queries relating to deliveries, shipping documentation and order status.
  • Prepare and complete all necessary shipping certificates, customs documentation and detailed shipment records.
  • Coordinate UK import activities, providing customs clearance instructions to freight and clearance agents within tight timescales.
  • Minimise storage costs and delivery delays through effective management of customs and import processes.
  • Arrange the shipment, collection and associated documentation for demonstration equipment, loan units and exhibition materials.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and external partners to resolve shipping issues and ensure a high level of customer service.

Shipping Officer applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Proven experience within an international shipping, logistics, import/export or freight administration environment.
  • Working knowledge of import/export regulations, customs procedures and international shipping documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise competing demands.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy when handling documentation and shipment records.
  • Confident communicator, capable of dealing with customers, freight partners and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team whilst also driving issues and resolutions independently.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive, positive and solutions-focused approach to work.
