Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Shutdown Supervisor to take responsibility for the organisation, planning and delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) shutdown periods for high‑containment buildings at the Weybridge site.

This role is critical in ensuring that all statutory, regulatory and compliance requirements are met while maintaining the continuity of site science services. The successful candidate will play a central role in coordinating engineering activity during biannual shutdowns within a safety‑critical environment.

Working closely with the client, internal engineering teams and external contractors, the Shutdown Supervisor will lead the end‑to‑end shutdown process, from early planning and stakeholder engagement through to delivery, assurance and post‑shutdown reporting. The role requires strong technical understanding, excellent organisation skills and the confidence to manage multiple stakeholders in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and deliver biannual PPM shutdown periods for containment buildings using the FM CAFM system
  • Liaise with the client to agree maintenance windows, access requirements and compliance expectations
  • Coordinate PPM, reactive, remedial and project works into structured and achievable shutdown plans
  • Supervise and manage shutdown teams and contractors in line with company policies, procedures and QHSE standards
  • Chair stakeholder and client meetings from 90 days pre‑shutdown through to completion
  • Ensure full statutory, health & safety, COSHH and operational compliance in line with contract KPIs
  • Quality‑assure contractor reports and compile documentation for HSE audit and assurance purposes
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, diaries and data within CAFM systems and supporting spreadsheets

Person Specification

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience managing contractors within a facilities management or engineering environment
  • Background in HVAC, mechanical or electrical PPMs and planned maintenance works
  • Experience working with BMS systems (highly beneficial)
  • Good understanding of M&E plant within containment or safety‑critical environments
  • Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Ability to extract technical information from documentation and produce clear, accurate reports

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • GCSE standard education with at least four Grade C passes or above, or an NVQ in Business Administration, Customer Service, ICT or equivalent
