Norse are currently recruiting experienced Shuttering Joiners for a large civils project on Teesside, working on extensive RC frame construction. This is a long-term opportunity on a major scheme, offering consistent night shift work for the right candidates.
About the Role
Working as part of an established civils team, you will be involved in all aspects of formwork and shuttering for reinforced concrete frame structures, including walls, columns, slabs, and foundations. This is a fast-paced project with steady, secure work for joiners who take pride in accuracy and safety.
Duties
- Erecting, striking, and adapting formwork and shuttering systems for RC frame work (walls, columns, slabs, bases, and foundations)
- Reading and interpreting engineering/construction drawings to ensure formwork is built to correct dimensions and tolerances
- Setting out and checking levels, lines, and alignment of shutters prior to concrete pour
- Fixing and adjusting proprietary shuttering systems (e.g. Doka, PERI, RMD, or similar)
- Installing waling, soldiers, props, and bracing to ensure formwork stability under load
- Liaising with steel fixers, concrete gangs, and the site engineering team to coordinate pour sequencing
- Carrying out pre-pour checks and snagging to identify and rectify defects before concrete is placed
- Stripping formwork safely once concrete has cured and preparing/cleaning materials for reuse
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and materials in good working order
- Working safely at height and within confined areas, following all site-specific RAMS and method statements
- Completing daily activities in line with site health & safety procedures, toolbox talks, and permits
- Keeping the work area clean, tidy, and free from hazards (good housekeeping)
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Shuttering Joiner on civils/RC frame projects
- Valid CSCS card (Skilled Worker minimum)
- Own hand tools and PPE
- CITB Site Safety Plus / SSSTS or relevant H&S training (preferred)
- Able to commit to night shift work on a long-term basis
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well within a team
