Norse are currently recruiting experienced Steel Fixers for a large civils project on Teesside, working on extensive RC frame construction. This is a long-term opportunity on a major scheme, offering consistent night shift work for the right candidates.

About the Role

Working as part of an established civils team, you will be involved in all aspects of reinforcement work for RC frame structures, including walls, columns, slabs, and foundations. This is a fast-paced project with steady, secure work for steel fixers who take pride in accuracy and safety.

Duties

  • Cutting, bending, and fixing reinforcement bar in line with engineering drawings and bar bending schedules
  • Reading and interpreting RC detail drawings to ensure correct bar size, spacing, and lap lengths
  • Fixing reinforcement for walls, columns, slabs, bases, and foundations
  • Tying and securing rebar using appropriate methods to maintain position during concrete pour
  • Installing starter bars, couplers, and proprietary connection systems as specified
  • Placing spacers and chairs to maintain correct cover and bar positioning
  • Liaising with shuttering joiners, engineers, and the concrete gang to coordinate pour sequencing
  • Carrying out pre-pour checks alongside site engineers to confirm reinforcement is correct before sign-off
  • Loading, moving, and handling reinforcement materials safely around site
  • Maintaining tools and equipment in good working order
  • Working safely at height and within confined areas, following all site-specific RAMS and method statements
  • Completing daily activities in line with site health & safety procedures, toolbox talks, and permits
  • Keeping the work area clean, tidy, and free from hazards (good housekeeping)

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Steel Fixer on civils/RC frame projects
  • Valid CSCS card (Skilled Worker minimum)
  • Own hand tools and PPE
  • CITB Site Safety Plus / SSSTS or relevant H&S training (preferred)
  • Able to commit to night shift work on a long-term basis
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well within a team
