Site Agent – Water Treatment / Civil Engineering
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Salary: £65,000 per annum + Package
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Agent to join a major water treatment project in Reading.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in heavy civils, groundworks and water infrastructure, with experience managing site teams and subcontractors to deliver complex works safely, on programme and to a high standard.
The Project
The project involves significant concrete and drainage works within a water treatment environment, including associated civil engineering and infrastructure works.
The Role
As Site Agent, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with the programme, specification and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise site teams and subcontractors.
- Monitor site activities against target programmes and project plans.
- Ensure accurate site records are maintained, including daily diaries, QA documentation and as-built drawings.
- Prepare and deliver daily site briefings.
- Monitor works to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards and safe systems of work.
- Attend site and progress meetings.
- Manage formal communications with clients and subcontractors, including Early Warnings and instructions.
- Ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements.
- Prepare and manage site documentation, including RAMS and ITPs.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with Inspection and Test Plans.
- Work collaboratively with the client's team, design team and supply chain.
- Identify opportunities to improve programme, productivity and project delivery.
- Proactively resolve technical and operational issues on site.
About You
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Site Agent with a strong heavy civil engineering / groundworks background, ideally gained within water, utilities or infrastructure projects.
You will be confident managing site operations, subcontractors and client relationships, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and programme delivery.
Requirements
- BSc, MSc or BEng in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven site management experience delivering projects to programme.
- Strong background in heavy civils and groundworks.
- Experience managing concrete and drainage works.
- Experience of ducting and pumping shaft works.
- Previous experience working under NEC3 contracts.
- Strong understanding of SHEQ requirements.
- Experience producing and managing RAMS, ITPs and site documentation.
- Ability to manage subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a wider project team.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
