Site Agent 

My client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Agent with a strong engineering background to join their team on a major highways infrastructure project.

Site Agent Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the day-to-day delivery of highways and civil engineering works, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
  • Lead and support Site Engineers, Foremen, site operatives, and subcontractors, maintaining high standards of productivity, quality, and health & safety.
  • Plan and oversee construction activities, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, drawings, RAMS, permits, and company procedures.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, commercial team, and client representatives to drive project performance and resolve technical or operational issues.
  • Manage engineering activities on site, ensuring accurate setting out, quality assurance, and compliance with design requirements.
  • Monitor progress against programme, identify potential risks, and implement solutions to maintain project milestones.
  • Ensure effective management of labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to maximise efficiency and productivity.
  • Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture, ensuring full compliance with company policies and industry legislation.
  • Review and maintain project documentation, including site records, progress reports, inspections, quality documentation, and daily diaries.
  • Support commercial activities by identifying variations, managing site costs, and assisting with project reporting.

Site Agent Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Site Agent on major highways, roads, bridges, or large-scale civil engineering infrastructure projects.
  • Engineering background with experience as a Site Engineer or Section Engineer before progressing into site management.
  • Strong knowledge of highways construction, earthworks, drainage, reinforced concrete, pavements, and associated civil engineering works.
  • Proven ability to manage site teams, subcontractors, and engineering functions on complex infrastructure projects.
  • Good understanding of NEC contracts and project delivery processes is advantageous.
  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety legislation and industry best practice.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • SMSTS qualification is essential.
  • First Aid at Work qualification is desirable.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) is preferred.
