Site Engineer – Marine & Civil Engineering

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Engineer to join a well-established national civil engineering contractor delivering technically challenging marine and heavy civil engineering projects across the UK.

The contractor delivers reinforced concrete structures, sheet and driven piling, cofferdams, rock armour, coastal protection, harbours, quays, jetties, piers, lighthouses and wider marine infrastructure.

This is a permanent role involving regular travel and periods working away from home.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced engineering and site management team, you will support the safe, accurate and successful delivery of projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Setting out reinforced concrete, piling, cofferdam and marine construction works
  • Using robotic total stations and associated surveying equipment
  • Preparing, uploading and working from coordinate information independently
  • Setting out from drawings, digital models and construction information
  • Completing as-built surveys and maintaining accurate engineering records
  • Undertaking quality assurance inspections and associated documentation
  • Assisting with ITPs, inspection records and project quality requirements
  • Checking drawings, levels, dimensions and construction tolerances
  • Supporting the site management team with technical queries and project delivery
  • Working on projects delivered under NEC forms of contract

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • A minimum HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
  • At least three years’ setting-out experience within civil engineering or construction
  • Strong practical experience using robotic total stations
  • The ability to prepare, upload and work from coordinate data independently
  • Experience completing quality assurance records and engineering documentation
  • A good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and tolerances
  • Experience within reinforced concrete, piling, structures, marine or heavy civil engineering
  • A willingness to travel and work away from home when required

Previous experience involving harbours, quays, jetties, sheet piling, driven piling, cofferdams or rock armour would be particularly advantageous.
