A day in the life of a Murphy Site Engineer:
- Promote best practice in health, safety and environmental standards with the SHQE team.
- Ensure accurate setting out methods and techniques are implemented on site.
- Review drawings and specifications for completeness and request missing information promptly.
- Carry out quality checks in line with company and project procedures.
- Communicate effectively with foremen and supervisors to ensure full understanding of technical information.
- Support and mentor assistant, graduate and junior engineers.
- Assist in the development and coordination of temporary works design schemes.
- Identify, coach and develop key staff within the team.
- Monitor site activities to address unsafe conditions and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, designers, the project team and supply chain.
- Support material and plant requisitions and contribute to RAMS preparation.
- Maintain accurate daily site records and ensure inspection and test plans are completed, while communicating commercial issues to the commercial team.
- Track and maintain progressive sign offs and prepare handover documentation.

- At least 3 years, proven experience in civil engineering projects.
- Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
- Proven experience/training with all the latest surveying/CAD techniques.
- Ability to use setting out equipment including total station and reading of drawings and specification documents.
- Ability and confidence to communicate and present to Management, clients and public.
- An understanding of the commercial issues in undertaking a large scale construction project.
- Ability and confidence to discuss engineering issues with people across various levels and disciplines.
- Knowledge of current civil engineering legislation as well as Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Knowledge of progressive QA sign off and Handover documentation.
