Site Engineer

My client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join their team on a major water infrastructure project.

Site Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Support the day to day delivery of water and civil engineering works, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
  • Carry out setting out and surveying activities, ensuring works are completed accurately and in accordance with design specifications.
  • Work closely with the Site Agent and Project Manager to plan and coordinate daily site activities.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, RAMS, permits, and company procedures.
  • Monitor site progress and provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors, resolving engineering issues as they arise.
  • Maintain quality standards by carrying out inspections, recording test results, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist with the management of temporary works, materials, plant, and labour to maintain programme targets.
  • Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate site records, including as-built drawings, quality documentation, site diaries, and progress reports.
  • Liaise with designers, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

Site Engineer Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on water, utilities, pipelines, treatment works, or major civil engineering infrastructure projects.
  • Strong engineering background with experience in setting out and delivering civil engineering works.
  • Good knowledge of water infrastructure, drainage, reinforced concrete, pipelines, and associated civil engineering works.
  • Proficient in the use of surveying equipment, including GPS and Total Station.
  • Experience producing as built records and maintaining quality assurance documentation.
  • Good understanding of health & safety legislation and industry best practice.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification is advantageous.
  • First Aid at Work qualification is desirable.
