Hours: Monday to Thursday | 40 Hours Per Week | Days Flexible Between (07:00 - 19:00)
The Company
A well-established and growing heavy manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced Production Foreman to lead production operations at its Barnsley facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with a background in metal manufacturing who enjoys driving performance, developing teams and maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
The Role
As Production Foreman, you will be responsible for supervising daily production activities, ensuring targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. You will lead and motivate production teams, coordinate workflow, support continuous improvement initiatives and work closely with maintenance and other departments to maximise plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise day-to-day production operations
- Ensure production schedules are achieved safely and efficiently
- Manage, coach and develop production operators and team leaders
- Conduct daily toolbox talks and shift handovers
- Monitor production performance and drive KPI improvements
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to minimise downtime
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures
- Maintain high housekeeping and quality standards across the production area
- Investigate incidents, near misses and implement corrective actions
- Complete production reports and maintain accurate operational records
- Support continuous improvement projects to increase productivity and reduce waste
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience within a metal manufacturing, foundry, steel, casting or heavy engineering environment
- At least 3 years' experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within manufacturing
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- A proactive approach to health, safety and environmental compliance
- Experience monitoring production KPIs and driving operational improvements
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Good organisational and planning ability
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
- The ability to read technical drawings would be advantageous
- Experience with metalworking equipment such as presses, mills, saws, routers or welding machinery would be beneficial but is not essential
